Just Another Bush? & Other Updates

I just came from Yahoo!‘s front page, and I am stunned. I was originally going to click on a news link that stated that stray dogs were being treated better due to the tsunami. I wanted to find out what changed.

Well there I was, all set to click and be thankful that our furry companions (No, not furry.) were being treated well, when a link a few spaces above the tsunami one caught me eye. At first blink, I saw “Blair,” “wins,” and “re-election.” How could this be?!

From everything I have heard from my British friends over on LiveJournal, the British as a whole were fed up with Tony Blair. Cute ears, an adorable grin, and a gorgeous accent simply are not enough to lead the British people. These people ranted via Messengers and wrote journal entries about how much they despised this man!

And now, this article gives an overview of PM Blair winning the position again. What I do find rather interesting is that, unlike Bush, his party’s (Labour) majority hold in the House of Commons (House of Representatives to us) has shrunk. By 101 people! Wow. Just wow. This is just from the current counted votes. The majority hold could very well change as more votes are counted.

The article speculated on the power Blair would hold in office, since he had trouble keeping everything together over the decision to go to war or not.

I should think that he is another Bush in the sense that more people than the outspoken opposition anticipated supported him. Maybe he just skated by. Or maybe he upset the British people, but did not wholly lose their faith.

I do know that the Tories gained an impressive number of seats (to me) in the last election, so perhaps there’s more other party support out there.

Today is payday, and there’s not going to be much to pick up. I am living off of the large tips that I am getting due to the play offs. That’s the only reason I bother showing up for work anymore.

Robert informed me that I was written up last week because my assigned area was not clean when I left. Out of all the times I show up and clean that damned area whether I dirtied it up, or my nasty little spolied customers leave their trash everywhere as though I am their maid, he and Anthony chose to be pissed over this one (isolated!!) incident.

It’s this is the type of BS that causes my company to lose its employees at a high rate. I was attempting to catch the last bus out of Downtown, so that I would not be stranded. I suppose that it’s simply not okay to not shine a counter that will be “mysteriously” filthy by the time I come back to work. It does not matter how well I clean up this one particular area, because by the next work day, its sticky and my work only served to make the higher-ups feel good about themselves. It’s as if they are trying to make up for other lacking or missing things in their lives. Whatever.

I wanted to say “Hello.” to Trekkie and Chark, since I chatted with them as I tried to write this entry. It’s taking me forever to finish! Heh.

Before I close, I found my friend Tamera from two years ago! I emailed her old address, and hoped that it still worked. Luckily, it did. I’m not certain if anyone here now remembers, or was even here then, but I used to post her stories in my journal when she sent them to me two years ago. I might start doing that again.
