A DD Friends Locked Journal. . . I don’t think so.

(12:12 P.M. – 12:28 P.M. US Central Time/Wednesday/Home)

I’ve thought about why I don’t have a “friends locked” journal on this site, and the original reason was because I didn’t want one. Now that I’ve maintained one on LiveJournal for quite some time, it’s made me question some of my openness here. Even if I wanted to go back and switch over all of the entries I’ve posted here over to a locked status, there isn’t such a journal to be had on DD.

Sure, you can think that you are locking an entry, but anyone could still gain access to those entries simply by friending you. That’s not the way it should work. LiveJournal has a much better idea of being able to friends lock entries. You simply lock the entry off and no one but the people you specify can view it. It’s so obvious, that I wonder why this site doesn’t have such a feature for everyone. Sure, I love DD, since it was my first proper journaling site, but this area is severely lacking as a journal security feature.

Even though I don’t post as many “real” entries on LiveJournal, there isn’t any worry about strange, new friend requests or idiots worming their way into entries they have no business viewing. I don’t have to hyperventilate about family or friends or ex-boyfriends finding my journal.

I personally know someone who has had to change her DD diary several times in an attempt to escape readers she didn’t want. This leads me to wonder, if I should set up a true friends locked journal on LJ to post entries I’d normally post here, and then simply refer everyone there, would you go to such a journal? Would you create such a journal yourself? I’d really like to know, because anyone could come along and read this one any time they damn well please.

Oh, and you’ll note that the listed times of entries crossover, because I started writing the entry about my family first. The constant naggling to write this entry poked at me, so I stopped to write this one.
